About me          School
School starts in the summer of 1965
But then came a momentous moment for each child, the schooling. We had to go to the Jakob Mankel School at Waldhäuser Weg. It was really about 1.6 km (1750 yd) away but felt at least 5 times, especially in the rain, snow and storm. From now on, every working day, including Saturday, has to get up early and run to school. The teacher we had in first grade was pretty rustic. An old school teacher. Luckily he was only one year our teacher. Then he retired or pension. We got a young, very nice teacher. It was less strict and we learned everything that you have to learn in 4 years (hopefully). On the way to school, we also had to walk over a few zebra crossings.
Luckily, in the morning, the school crossing warden were standing at the zebra crossing, watching for our safety. Today (2017) this may be a bit more difficult because of the many cars. At school, we also met many children from the districts of the Westerwald side. This also resulted in friendships beyond the core city. In winter we went from the city center to the Walderbach near the Mankelschule for sledding. In the city center there were only very dangerous declines. The walkway from the Memorial to the Hainkaserne was quite steep and too dangerous for me (I already had a strong need for security then until I started smoking). When we moved in 1967 from the Schulgasse 9 in the outskirts of Weilburg, the way to school was about 1000 m (1093 yd) shorter. Since the neighbor also worked as a teacher in the Mankelschule, she often took her son and me with her. Unfortunately in 1968 I had to go to 5th grade and had to return from the outskirts to the Komödienbau in the city center of Weilburg. Now again the theater with the 1.6 km (1750 yd). Unfortunately, I was not a big light in math and other subjects. So my classmate and I got tutoring in math. It worked for me and since the time math is really fun (?). You could see that on the notes as well. Fortunately, the Komödienbau odyssey was short- lived. From the 7th class I was back in the Mankelschule with all the luxury. So 1000m (1093 yd) less way to school and at times I was also taken by the neighbor. However, we had to go to gymnastics at the Hainallee. The sports facility was located where the Weilburger cinema (Delphi) is now. Of course we put the paths back in the breaks. Otherwise, the school was splashing like that. We also had a very good math teacher at school. Strict but fair as most teachers at the time in the Mankelschule. In 1974 I left middle school school (which means middle here) and started an apprenticeship. Incidentally, I do not believe that learning is easier today. Despite all the digitization, one can not take his smartphone with every question and googling the question. And what I should do with the 3000 hits that Google offers me, nobody really knows (Big Data). Through the flood of information you lose the details of the eye. I also think that in the future (the next 10 years) there will still be paper and pencil and that in the future you will still play games that do not require a battery or a power outlet. I certainly hope so.

I could no longer line of sight, but I was already too heavy and thrown it was actually too far.So I had to take the streets. The picture can also be printed and cut out. If Then stick it on a plywood board, then you have a board game for the whole family.
